Sameen Tallat Residences advances on site in Riyadh

Excavation is under way at Sameen Tallat Residences in Riyadh, marking the transition from design development to work on site. Designed by ENTROPIC in collaboration with Aldowayan Architects, the residential project is scheduled to begin foundation works in October 2026. Completion is anticipated by the end of 2027.

The design takes its starting point from the layered escarpments of the Riyadh region and the stepped geometries of Najdi architecture. Rather than treating these references as applied ornament, ENTROPIC translates them into the building's organisation: a sequence of recessed volumes, deep openings and planted terraces that breaks down the mass and gives the residences a distinct relationship to the outdoors.

The updated proposal brings this approach into a clear architectural framework. A pronounced rhythm of horizontal bands and vertical elements frames the terraces, while the upper levels step back to create a varied silhouette. The warm material palette and depth of the facade connect the building to its setting without reproducing historical forms.

Privacy is central to the design. Recesses, screens and carefully considered sightlines mediate between the apartments, neighbouring buildings and the adjacent elevated metro. Balconies and terraces extend living spaces outdoors, while the depth of the envelope is intended to provide shade and moderate direct exposure to the sun.

For ENTROPIC, the project brings architectural expression and the practical requirements of housing into the same design process. Form, circulation, privacy and outdoor space are developed together, with the aim of creating a coherent residential environment that responds to the conditions of Riyadh.

The start of work on site is a significant milestone in translating that design into a built project. The next phase will establish the foundations for the stepped residential structure, progressing towards the anticipated end-of-2027 completion.
