Hillside Residences is conceived as a stepped urban landscape, shaped by the relationship between Tirana’s growing density and its surrounding hills. The tower rises through a sequence of terraces that reduce its visual mass, open the apartments toward light, views, and sunset, and transform the façade into a layered composition of balconies, planted edges, and deep shadow lines. Rather than standing as a conventional vertical block, the building becomes an extension of the terrain—balancing urban presence with domestic scale. Warm materials, efficient residential layouts, and an active ground floor create a development that is both recognizable and composed, contributing to Tirana’s evolving skyline while establishing a calm and adaptable model for contemporary living. It connects the sacred and civic realms—serving both as sanctuary and social space. Nord Chapel emerges as a continuation of the landscape—a sculpted form rising naturally from the ground. Its façade of reused steel sheet piles expresses both strength and surrender, bridging human industry and divine creation. The interior unfolds through timber, light, and quiet transitions, inviting visitors into a meditative journey between solitude and togetherness. Above the main hall, an open-air auditorium becomes the true heart of the chapel—a place for worship beneath the open sky. National Ethnography Museum A modern homestead museum blending tradition, nature, and innovation. Designed for Rumšiškės, the National Ethnography Museum fuses tradition and modernity. The building is divided into five volumes resembling homesteads, united by a central exhibition hall. By sinking three of its four floors underground, it preserves a human scale and blends into the Lithuanian Open-Air Museum landscape. The architectural vision draws from Lithuanian rural heritage, transforming the archetype of the farmhouse into a contemporary museum complex. Each volume has a distinct role—administration, storage, café-library—while the central hall serves as the heart for exhibitions. Thatched roofs, timber structures, and reclaimed brick reconnect the museum to vernacular materials and traditions. Sustainability defines the project’s logic. Most functions are underground to minimize visual impact and stabilize temperature, reducing energy needs. Reed roofs shield interiors from overheating, while UV-protective glazing safeguards collections. Hills landscaped from excavated soil foster biodiversity and seasonal change, turning nature itself into part of the museum’s exhibit. The project challenges static academic typologies, transforming corridors and thresholds into spaces of learning and encounter. Its looped structure fosters openness, community, and cross-disciplinary creativity. The design envisions education as a dynamic social process. Instead of isolating learning into classrooms, it integrates activity along a continuous spatial necklace—a series of forums that link interior atriums, terraces, and gardens. Movement itself becomes a form of engagement, blurring boundaries between study, rest, and collaboration. Architecturally, the building balances solidity and transparency. Vertical façade divisions echo neighboring structures, while acting as sun-shading shutters to reduce glare and overheating. The public spaces animate the façades, bringing light, rhythm, and presence to the campus skyline. The result is a civic and symbolic anchor for the university’s future. Seed Pavillion A modular pavilion inviting ideas and hopes to grow into new futures. The Seed Pavilion serves as a symbolic and physical space for public engagement, designed for the TAC event in Granada. The pavilion’s modular design, made from sustainable timber, uses minimal resources and can be easily assembled and disassembled. Its structure, which consists of six interlocking parts, offers flexibility for future reuse in other events and locations. The pavilion’s form is inspired by the organic shape of a pomegranate, inviting visitors to contribute their ideas and dreams. Small, biodegradable paper with seeds is provided for visitors to write or draw their hopes, which will later be planted around the city as living memorials. The architecture’s modular nature allows for easy transport and reassembly, expanding its impact beyond its original location. Built entirely from timber sourced from sustainably managed forests, the pavilion minimizes its carbon footprint and enhances the environmental experience. The flexibility of the structure ensures it can be used for multiple purposes and events, multiplying its social impact while maintaining its aesthetic and ecological integrity. The Nature Gate Library and kindergarten joined by a forest gateway in Józefów. “The Nature Gate” is a mixed-use proposal for a kindergarten and library in Józefów, on the outskirts of Warsaw. The building is set in a small pine forest, carefully designed to preserve the delicate local ecology. The project joins two program-specific volumes with a connective gateway that doubles as a rooftop playground. The project is based on the idea of compact, rational volumes optimized for their distinct programs: a strip typology with south-facing classrooms for the kindergarten, and a deeper, storage-efficient layout for the library. These are joined by an “umbilical cord” that serves as both gateway and shared space, housing a gymnasium and café while creating unique spatial qualities through its inclined interior. Rather than occupying ground-level space for play, the kindergarten’s entire roof is transformed into a recreational landscape. Forest Restaurant A timber restaurant and viewing tower immersed in the Baltic forest. Forest Restaurant redefines dining as an encounter with the landscape. The watchtower complements the dining space—extending the experience vertically, connecting earth and sky, intimacy and vastness. The project unfolds as two interrelated structures: a ground-level restaurant and a vertical lookout. The restaurant’s glulam and steel structure is embedded lightly into the forest floor, minimizing environmental disturbance while framing views of the surrounding trees and sea. Inside, soft light filters through timber ribs, shaping a tranquil dining atmosphere that celebrates local materials and craftsmanship. Beside it, the 25-meter observation tower offers a contemplative ascent through the canopy. Inspired by the form of a flower calyx, the tower’s diagrid glulam frame tapers upward to a viewing platform above the treetops. In response to rising sea levels, The Coastal Path establishes a new protective landscape for Vejle, Denmark. The 50,000 m² intervention combines storm flood defense with ecological restoration and urban connectivity. Meandering paths and basins elevate the coastline while creating new public spaces that celebrate water, movement, and nature. The Coastal Path proposes a hybrid landscape that merges flood protection with recreation and ecology. By adding new land to the harbor edge, a system of raised basins and interwoven paths secures the coastline up to 2100. The design restores the missing link between Vejle’s urban core and the natural beauty of its fjord and forest, shielding users from road and rail while offering uninterrupted access to nature. The project becomes a living interface between land and water. Visitors experience the changing tide levels through sculpted topography, immersive paths, and restored marine habitats. Floating Gardens Floating storm barriers transforming Vejle’s harbor into public gardens. Situated in Vejle, Denmark, The Floating Gardens combines storm surge protection with ecological and social renewal. The modular floating system secures the city to a 3-meter elevation, ensuring adaptability to future sea-level rise. At the same time, it transforms the harbor into a chain of floating parks, uniting water, nature, and people. The Floating Gardens transforms the conventional idea of flood infrastructure into a poetic and adaptive landscape. Instead of static seawalls, a series of floating islands protect Vejle while bringing the city closer to its water. Each island is designed as a self-contained micro-ecosystem, hosting habitats for flora, birds, and marine life while integrating social spaces such as playgrounds, cafés, and quiet gardens. Together, they form a new public realm that evolves with the tides—resilient yet constantly alive. The project reclaims Vejle’s industrial harbor as an ecological and civic destination. The floating modules can be reconfigured or relocated as environmental and urban needs change, turning flexibility into a form of resilience. The Spiral School A continuous timber kindergarten designed as a playful learning spiral. Located in Michałowice, Poland, The Spiral School was designed to challenge conventional multi-storey layouts. The project transforms the constraints of the site into opportunity: a double-wrapped circle that forms a gentle, continuous slope. Children can explore the entire building—inside and out—without ever encountering a stair. The design begins with the question: how can we create freedom of movement in a restricted footprint? By coiling a linear kindergarten typology into a spiral, the architects turned limitation into invention. The result is a ramped plan where classrooms, courtyards, and gardens are connected through playful continuity. From a child’s perspective, it feels like a single flowing floor—a world of motion, discovery, and interaction. Constructed entirely from timber, the school is both sustainable and sensory. Fokus Pavillion A low-cost timber pavilion for Denmark’s largest video arts festival. Commissioned for the FOKUS Video Arts Festival, the pavilion transforms a small public square into an urban cinema and gathering point. Its lightweight modular system was conceived for quick assembly, reuse, and affordability. The structure aligns with the festival’s spirit of openness—connecting art, architecture, and community through shared experience. The concept evolved from a simple rectangular box large enough to host ten video-art posters, symbolizing the festival’s “10 Posters = 10 Films” theme. Through a sequence of design moves—cut, shift, and push—the form splits, rotates, and lowers to create two open entrances and dynamic interior volumes. The pavilion’s geometry invites visitors to pass through, discover, and linger among glowing video works that animate the public realm. Constructed with readily available materials—timber posts, pallets, rope, and painted MDF panels—the design prioritizes economy, simplicity, and reuse. Prefabrication enables rapid on-site construction and easy disassembly after the event. Its bright colors and recognizable shape strengthen the visual identity of FOKUS, turning a temporary installation into a civic landmark of creativity and participation. Tower With a Twist Spiral birdwatching tower shaped by motion in Latvia’s Pape Park. The Bird Watching Tower was designed for Pape Nature Park, located on Latvia’s western coast. The site is defined by constant movement—migrating birds, wild horses, and bison herds. The tower offers visitors a place to ascend, pause, and observe these natural cycles in harmony with the surrounding landscape. The tower translates the essence of movement into architecture. Its spiral circulation merges walking and pausing into a single experience, echoing the rhythm of migration and natural cycles. Its form evokes the protectiveness of a nest and the elegance of reeds swaying in coastal winds, while its materiality references vernacular Latvian methods. Constructed as a self-balancing steel structure, the tower relies on prefabricated, repetitive elements for cost efficiency and minimal environmental disturbance. Local materials reduce impact, while the lightweight assembly ensures that heavy machinery is not required on-site.
