The horseshoe is the starting point. The brief protects the historic Wawelska facade and characteristic details while allowing unsafe stands to be reconstructed. Adaptive reuse does not mean that the entire existing structural bowl is retained.
A new elevated circuit adds another way to experience the venue. The skywalk links views of the athletics ground, roof and surrounding park, extending the spatial life of the stadium beyond the spectator seat.
The new canopy outlines the spectator bowl and shelters its perimeter. Its continuous profile gives the renewed stadium a recognisable form while leaving the athletics ground open to the sky.
The two roof ends rise at the open side of the stadium. This gesture frames the park axis and relates the scale of the arena to the landscape beyond its southern opening.
Repeated slender columns shape the edge of the canopy. The concept relates this structural rhythm to the surrounding trees, making the perimeter a transition between stadium and park rather than a closed outer wall.
