Hillside Residences A stepped residential landscape, where terraces, planted edges and framed views bring Tirana’s growing density closer to the scale and rhythm of its hills. Hillside Residences is conceived as a stepped urban landscape, shaped by the relationship between Tirana’s growing density and its surrounding hills. The tower rises through a sequence of terraces that reduce its visual mass, open the apartments toward light, views, and sunset, and transform the façade into a layered composition of balconies, planted edges, and deep shadow lines. Rather than standing as a conventional vertical block, the building becomes an extension of the terrain—balancing urban presence with domestic scale. Warm materials, efficient residential layouts, and an active ground floor create a development that is both recognizable and composed, contributing to Tirana’s evolving skyline while establishing a calm and adaptable model for contemporary living. This reduces its visual mass and creates a dynamic silhouette that translates the surrounding mountains into an urban landmark. From compact volume to stepped skyline A composed urban edge, shaped by the hills. The north façade gives the tower a more continuous presence toward the city, structured by a clear rhythm of balconies and openings. Its stepped profile breaks down the overall mass, maintaining a domestic scale while extending the building’s relationship with Tirana’s surrounding hills. A composed urban edge, shaped by the hills. The stepped form becomes a way of living. Each setback reshapes the plan around light, privacy, views and generous outdoor space. The stepped form becomes a way of living. A'Thuraya City A new city emerging from the landscape, where the logic of the land shapes urban life. A’Thuraya City is conceived as an urban framework where Oman’s future ambitions meet the intelligence of its landscape. The masterplan brings together eight distinct settlements, each shaped by its relationship to terrain, water, access and climate. Different densities, movement systems and forms of habitation give each settlement its own character, while shared ecological and mobility networks connect the wider city. Landscape becomes the project’s primary design system, allowing urbanity, ecology and identity to evolve together as a grounded yet forward-looking constellation of places rooted in Oman’s identity. A Constellation of Villages The project begins by reading the land. Topography, water movement and habitat define what is retained, connected and inhabited. The project begins by reading the land. 01. Wadi Village Wadi Village occupies lower terrain where water, shade and cultivation can support compact settlement. Homes cluster along pedestrian streets and terraces, with productive landscapes and water channels integrated into the public realm. The wadi becomes an organising corridor for movement, climate and community. 01. Wadi Village 01. Wadi Village 01. Wadi Village 02. Farm City Farm City integrates housing with productive landscape rather than separating agriculture at the urban edge. Residential clusters are organised around cultivated plots, water infrastructure and shared community facilities, allowing food production, daily movement and public life to operate within one district. 02. Farm City 02. Farm City 02. Farm City 03. Plateau Villas Plateau Villas are distributed along higher, more stable ground, using stepped plots and low building profiles to retain long views and reduce visual exposure. Roads and terraces follow the contours, allowing the residential fabric to adapt to the slope while limiting unnecessary cut and fill. 03. Plateau Villas 03. Plateau Villas 03. Plateau Villas 04. Lakeside Village Lakeside Village concentrates housing, hospitality and public space around a defined water edge. Compact blocks and pedestrian routes connect the settlement to terraces, gardens and waterfront activity, creating a clear centre within the wider landscape and strengthening everyday life. 04. Lakeside Village 04. Lakeside Village 04. Lakeside Village 05. Cliff Edfe Village Cliff Edge Villas form a linear settlement along elevated terrain, using terraces, streets and public spaces to align development with the landform. The arrangement prioritises long-distance views while maintaining a compact urban grain and a clear relationship between the inhabited edge and the territory beyond. 05. Cliff Edfe Village 05. Cliff Edfe Village 05. Cliff Edfe Village 06. Amphitheatre Village Amphitheatre Village occupies a naturally enclosed basin, organising homes and public programmes around a shared central landscape. The settlement steps with the terrain to create a legible centre, sheltered public spaces and short connections between residential clusters, agriculture and water. 06. Amphitheatre Village 06. Amphitheatre Village 06. Amphitheatre Village 07. The Sky Castle The Sky Castle occupies the site’s most visible rock formation as a concentrated civic and cultural landmark. Rather than extending dense urban fabric onto the peak, the proposal limits occupation and uses the vertical form to establish orientation across the wider masterplan, without dominating the landscape. 07. AWFA Mosque A serene urban mosque balancing openness, rhythm, and retreat. Designed as a contemporary interpretation of Saudi architectural heritage, AWFA Mosque emphasizes simplicity, rhythm, and material integrity. Its form allows light, shade, and movement to shape the spiritual experience. The project bridges the architectural and the devotional—an urban space of stillness, connection, and reflection. The mosque’s architectural language is defined by a rhythmic shell of vertical fins, filtering sunlight and air to create a continuously shifting play of shadows. This permeable enclosure blurs the boundary between inside and outside, transforming prayer and passage into acts of perception and contemplation. Subtle level changes, framed views, and courtyards structure a spatial journey that is both spiritual and civic. The plan unfolds between the main prayer hall and a secondary volume for community activities, united by shaded gardens and planted corridors. Rooted in Salmani values of proportion and restraint, the design is adaptable to its unfinished urban surroundings. AWFA Mosque becomes more than a place of worship—it is a civic anchor, an urban threshold, and a haven of composure within the city. The Flows of Nemu A riverfront masterplan blending ecology, culture, and urban life. Located in Kaunas’ Nemunaičiai Quarter, the project transforms a disused riverfront into an active civic edge. It proposes a network of adaptable green corridors that host cultural events, recreation, and everyday life. By linking river ecology with urban regeneration, the design strengthens community identity and long-term livability. The masterplan is structured around a series of flows—parallel landscape bands that alternate between natural and civic functions. Each band defines a unique spatial rhythm, from floodable meadows and walkways to plazas and event terraces. This layered structure allows the district to coexist with changing water levels, turning ecological processes into public experience. At once infrastructural and poetic, The Flows of Nemunaičiai redefines the relationship between city and river. Local materials, seasonal planting, and hydrological design ensure adaptability and resilience. The project envisions the riverfront as a living organism—absorbing, filtering, and hosting life—while creating a cultural landscape for future generations. Nord Chapel A recycled-steel chapel uniting faith, landscape, and craftsmanship. Set in the Danish landscape, Nord Chapel reinterprets the vernacular of the Lutheran church through humble industrial means. The chapel merges raw material honesty with spiritual sensitivity, offering a place of contemplation, faith, and fellowship. It connects the sacred and civic realms—serving both as sanctuary and social space. Nord Chapel emerges as a continuation of the landscape—a sculpted form rising naturally from the ground. Its façade of reused steel sheet piles expresses both strength and surrender, bridging human industry and divine creation. The interior unfolds through timber, light, and quiet transitions, inviting visitors into a meditative journey between solitude and togetherness. Above the main hall, an open-air auditorium becomes the true heart of the chapel—a place for worship beneath the open sky. Surrounded by greenery and framed by the rhythm of steel, it connects congregation, nature, and city. Through sustainable materials and social purpose, Nord Chapel stands as a contemporary testament to reverence, resilience, and renewal. Rethinking Li A sustainable masterplan reconnecting Li’s town center with nature. The project establishes a long-term development vision where nature and urban life coexist. By enhancing public access to the river, introducing new housing typologies, and revitalizing civic spaces, it creates a resilient, inclusive urban environment. The plan strengthens Li’s local economy, encourages sustainable tourism, and promotes an active and healthy lifestyle. Rethinking Li is built upon three pillars of sustainability—social, economic, and ecological. Social sustainability is fostered through new community spaces that encourage interaction and local activity, including gathering areas, outdoor sports, and playgrounds. Economic sustainability supports innovation and local entrepreneurship, while ecological sustainability restores biodiversity through rewilded riverbanks, green corridors, and resilient flood-adaptive design. The urban fabric grows as a Nature Corridor, extending from the historic center toward the waterfront. Public buildings—such as the new Town Hall, cultural center, and market square—form active social anchors along the route. Flood-adaptive landscapes and modular wooden housing ensure long-term resilience, while natural materials and seasonal vegetation tie the architecture to its northern context. The result is a holistic framework for life in balance with nature. National Ethnography Museum A modern homestead museum blending tradition, nature, and innovation. Designed for Rumšiškės, the National Ethnography Museum fuses tradition and modernity. The building is divided into five volumes resembling homesteads, united by a central exhibition hall. By sinking three of its four floors underground, it preserves a human scale and blends into the Lithuanian Open-Air Museum landscape. The architectural vision draws from Lithuanian rural heritage, transforming the archetype of the farmhouse into a contemporary museum complex. Each volume has a distinct role—administration, storage, café-library—while the central hall serves as the heart for exhibitions. Thatched roofs, timber structures, and reclaimed brick reconnect the museum to vernacular materials and traditions. Sustainability defines the project’s logic. Most functions are underground to minimize visual impact and stabilize temperature, reducing energy needs. Reed roofs shield interiors from overheating, while UV-protective glazing safeguards collections. Hills landscaped from excavated soil foster biodiversity and seasonal change, turning nature itself into part of the museum’s exhibit. The Forest Nexus A shared learning and community hub connecting city and nature. In today’s digital society, social connection is increasingly rare. The Forest Nexus proposes a new model of school as community infrastructure, uniting learning and social life. Located in Vilnius, the 11,520 m² project brings together education, recreation, and civic engagement within one adaptable framework. The design envisions education as a shared civic platform. By layering programs with overlapping boundaries, it promotes connection across generations and cultures. Inspired by a Venn diagram, its circular geometry creates zones of intersection—spaces of openness, creativity, and interaction. The building integrates nature both conceptually and physically, positioning learning within a forest setting. Classrooms, studios, and gathering spaces radiate around a central “free space” that supports shared activity. This configuration transforms the school into a catalyst for neighborhood life, fostering community through coexistence. Lattice Tower A timber tower uniting memory, landscape, and human experience. Situated on the slopes of Polak Hill, the Lattice Tower transforms an area of historical significance into an immersive architectural journey. It reinterprets memory as experience—inviting visitors to explore rather than merely observe. Constructed primarily from timber, it merges material honesty with phenomenological depth, linking nature, heritage, and human aspiration. The design translates intangible values—courage, history, and coexistence—into a physical structure. From afar, the tower appears as a delicate silhouette dissolving into the sky, a wooden “cloud” emerging from the landscape. Its transparency and density shift with the viewer’s movement, harmonizing with the rhythm of trees around it. As visitors ascend, the form grows lighter, evoking both excitement and reflection—a vertical journey through space, memory, and emotion. At its base, the exposed timber structure reveals its logic—simple joinery and visible detailing convey craftsmanship and clarity. The ascent is not only a path upward but a sequence of experiences: platforms for rest, reflection, and storytelling. Each level becomes a fragment of the region’s collective memory, narrating the courage and endurance of its defenders. The tower thus becomes a vertical museum in the open air, inviting exploration, discovery, and remembrance. Svamptornet A timber and steel water tower inspired by the geometry of nature. Located in Hemmesta, the tower reinterprets a utilitarian structure as an architectural and ecological gesture. The conical form ensures structural efficiency and balanced water pressure, while minimizing material use and land impact. The tower’s wooden ribs and steel structure create a lightweight, maintainable, and sustainable design that blends with the forest canopy. Inspired by the chanterelle’s natural shape, Svamptornet embodies the connection between life and water. The conical geometry is not only a structural response but a metaphor for balance—directing weight and flow downward to achieve stability with minimal resources. The hyperboloid façade of straight timber slats creates a distinct silhouette, simplifying construction while expressing the elegance of tension and rotation found in natural systems. An integrated lighting system transforms the tower into a subtle nocturnal landmark. Hidden LED strips along the inner ribs softly illuminate the upper volume for public events and seasonal celebrations, while preserving the surrounding ecology from direct light pollution. By combining form, function, and environmental care, Svamptornet stands as a testament to sustainable infrastructure—an engineered sculpture rooted in the landscape. Playful Blocks – Learning Village Two visions for a sustainable, community-centered school in Meri-Rastila. The design process proposed two strategies for the site: one based on adaptive reuse, and another on complete renewal. Playful Blocks focuses on reimagining the school using existing foundations, turning constraints into a sustainable design advantage. Learning Village envisions a new, energy-efficient complex with optimized daylight, passive ventilation, and fluid urban integration. Together, the two options demonstrate a holistic understanding of educational architecture—from playful, modular form to forward-thinking environmental design. Playful Blocks is inspired by the whimsical forms of children’s toys—an ensemble of distinct yet interconnected learning volumes that foster creativity and curiosity. Built atop existing foundations, it minimizes waste and celebrates circular construction, using timber and white brick to create bright, tactile, and enduring spaces. A central indoor street connects the various halls and classrooms, promoting openness, interaction, and community participation. The architecture invites play and exploration, making learning an experience of movement and discovery. Learning Village instead proposes a new structure built from simple, sustainable materials to achieve long-term efficiency and adaptability. The building’s trapezoidal form expands the city’s masterplan logic while maintaining a human scale. Strategic cuts in the volume introduce natural light and outdoor connections, merging the school with the urban square and adjacent park. Passive design principles, optimized acoustics, and outdoor classrooms define an inclusive, high-performing educational environment that reflects Meri-Rastila’s renewed identity. Nexgen A regenerative housing system integrating ecology, material, and life. The Nexgen responds to the urgent need to reduce both operational and embodied carbon in construction. By prioritizing modular timber systems, circular materials, and living facades, it achieves holistic carbon neutrality. The project questions how architecture can evolve from “less harm” to active environmental repair—merging housing, ecology, and community. The Nexgen functions as both dwelling and habitat. Raised on pile foundations, it allows nature to flow beneath while its bio-habitat facades host birds, bees, and plants. Modular timber construction reduces embodied energy, while clay and organic materials biodegrade naturally, creating a closed, non-toxic material cycle. Each element performs ecologically—from capturing CO₂ to supporting urban biodiversity. The project’s design principles—pile foundations, passive energy, bio-active facades, circular materials, and compact clustered urbanism—form a manifesto for next-generation living. Scalable from a single home to modular neighborhoods, the NexGen system encourages density without loss of nature. It demonstrates that architecture can not only adapt to climate change but help reverse it, creating healthy ecosystems and communities. Jubilee A new campus forum merging education, collaboration, and community. Designed by Entropic and Studio4space, the Jubilee Building is a finalist proposal for the Cracow University of Economics competition. The project challenges static academic typologies, transforming corridors and thresholds into spaces of learning and encounter. Its looped structure fosters openness, community, and cross-disciplinary creativity. The design envisions education as a dynamic social process. Instead of isolating learning into classrooms, it integrates activity along a continuous spatial necklace—a series of forums that link interior atriums, terraces, and gardens. Movement itself becomes a form of engagement, blurring boundaries between study, rest, and collaboration. Architecturally, the building balances solidity and transparency. Vertical façade divisions echo neighboring structures, while acting as sun-shading shutters to reduce glare and overheating. The public spaces animate the façades, bringing light, rhythm, and presence to the campus skyline. The result is a civic and symbolic anchor for the university’s future. The Nature Gate Library and kindergarten joined by a forest gateway in Józefów. “The Nature Gate” is a mixed-use proposal for a kindergarten and library in Józefów, on the outskirts of Warsaw. The building is set in a small pine forest, carefully designed to preserve the delicate local ecology. The project joins two program-specific volumes with a connective gateway that doubles as a rooftop playground. The project is based on the idea of compact, rational volumes optimized for their distinct programs: a strip typology with south-facing classrooms for the kindergarten, and a deeper, storage-efficient layout for the library. These are joined by an “umbilical cord” that serves as both gateway and shared space, housing a gymnasium and café while creating unique spatial qualities through its inclined interior. Rather than occupying ground-level space for play, the kindergarten’s entire roof is transformed into a recreational landscape. This gesture both preserves the existing forest and creates one of the most engaging play environments in the city, turning ecological respect into a defining quality of the project. Wood construction underlines the design’s ambition, providing acoustic performance, cost efficiency, and a warm, sustainable atmosphere. The Serpent An e-commerce hub blending retail, logistics, and public space. Located in Kaunas, Lithuania, The Serpent is a 70,400 m² e-commerce hub designed to transform the logistics-driven retail typology into a civic experience. The building combines pick-up zones, retail, offices, and storage with plazas and streetscapes. By weaving public life into logistics, it creates a new suburban prototype for commerce. The Serpent challenges the conventional warehouse box by stretching the program into a continuous street. Public spaces line the front, logistics operations are tucked behind, and the roof undulates to accommodate diverse programmatic needs. This creates a dynamic sequence of plazas and connections, culminating in an interior civic square. The architectural section becomes a defining motif: serrated rooflines maximize daylight and solar gain, while allowing every unit to benefit from visibility and frontage. Future mobility is integrated through adaptable drop-off points and an upper-level bridge linking the city center. In doing so, The Serpent transforms commerce into a layered, urban experience. Forest Restaurant A timber restaurant and viewing tower immersed in the Baltic forest. Forest Restaurant redefines dining as an encounter with the landscape. Combining local craftsmanship with sustainable timber engineering, the design creates an atmosphere of calm and sensory immersion. The watchtower complements the dining space—extending the experience vertically, connecting earth and sky, intimacy and vastness. The project unfolds as two interrelated structures: a ground-level restaurant and a vertical lookout. The restaurant’s glulam and steel structure is embedded lightly into the forest floor, minimizing environmental disturbance while framing views of the surrounding trees and sea. Inside, soft light filters through timber ribs, shaping a tranquil dining atmosphere that celebrates local materials and craftsmanship. Beside it, the 25-meter observation tower offers a contemplative ascent through the canopy. Inspired by the form of a flower calyx, the tower’s diagrid glulam frame tapers upward to a viewing platform above the treetops. Together, the two elements create a dialogue between shelter and openness—between dining grounded in nature and a quiet moment elevated above it. The Coastal Path A flood-resilient landscape reconnecting Vejle’s city, nature, and fjord. In response to rising sea levels, The Coastal Path establishes a new protective landscape for Vejle, Denmark. The 50,000 m² intervention combines storm flood defense with ecological restoration and urban connectivity. Meandering paths and basins elevate the coastline while creating new public spaces that celebrate water, movement, and nature. The Coastal Path proposes a hybrid landscape that merges flood protection with recreation and ecology. By adding new land to the harbor edge, a system of raised basins and interwoven paths secures the coastline up to 2100. The design restores the missing link between Vejle’s urban core and the natural beauty of its fjord and forest, shielding users from road and rail while offering uninterrupted access to nature. The project becomes a living interface between land and water. Visitors experience the changing tide levels through sculpted topography, immersive paths, and restored marine habitats. Stone reefs and mussel banks enhance water quality, while eelgrass meadows regenerate biodiversity and capture carbon. The result is an adaptive, multi-layered landscape that protects the city and enriches life above and below the surface. Floating Gardens Floating storm barriers transforming Vejle’s harbor into public gardens. Situated in Vejle, Denmark, The Floating Gardens combines storm surge protection with ecological and social renewal. The modular floating system secures the city to a 3-meter elevation, ensuring adaptability to future sea-level rise. At the same time, it transforms the harbor into a chain of floating parks, uniting water, nature, and people. The Floating Gardens transforms the conventional idea of flood infrastructure into a poetic and adaptive landscape. Instead of static seawalls, a series of floating islands protect Vejle while bringing the city closer to its water. Each island is designed as a self-contained micro-ecosystem, hosting habitats for flora, birds, and marine life while integrating social spaces such as playgrounds, cafés, and quiet gardens. Together, they form a new public realm that evolves with the tides—resilient yet constantly alive. The project reclaims Vejle’s industrial harbor as an ecological and civic destination. The floating modules can be reconfigured or relocated as environmental and urban needs change, turning flexibility into a form of resilience. This modular strategy invites phased public and private investment, enabling incremental growth and community ownership. Through its hybrid identity—as protection, park, and social infrastructure—The Floating Gardens becomes a blueprint for cities learning to live gracefully with water. The Spiral School A continuous timber kindergarten designed as a playful learning spiral. Located in Michałowice, Poland, The Spiral School was designed to challenge conventional multi-storey layouts. The project transforms the constraints of the site into opportunity: a double-wrapped circle that forms a gentle, continuous slope. Children can explore the entire building—inside and out—without ever encountering a stair. The design begins with the question: how can we create freedom of movement in a restricted footprint? By coiling a linear kindergarten typology into a spiral, the architects turned limitation into invention. The result is a ramped plan where classrooms, courtyards, and gardens are connected through playful continuity. From a child’s perspective, it feels like a single flowing floor—a world of motion, discovery, and interaction. Constructed entirely from timber, the school is both sustainable and sensory. Wood provides warmth, tactile familiarity, and acoustic comfort, while demonstrating the potential of renewable materials in public architecture. More than a kindergarten, The Spiral School becomes a manifesto for ecological learning—raising generations to see wood not as an alternative, but as a natural standard for the future. Fokus Pavillion A low-cost timber pavilion for Denmark’s largest video arts festival. Commissioned for the FOKUS Video Arts Festival, the pavilion transforms a small public square into an urban cinema and gathering point. Its lightweight modular system was conceived for quick assembly, reuse, and affordability. The structure aligns with the festival’s spirit of openness—connecting art, architecture, and community through shared experience. The concept evolved from a simple rectangular box large enough to host ten video-art posters, symbolizing the festival’s “10 Posters = 10 Films” theme. Through a sequence of design moves—cut, shift, and push—the form splits, rotates, and lowers to create two open entrances and dynamic interior volumes. The pavilion’s geometry invites visitors to pass through, discover, and linger among glowing video works that animate the public realm. Constructed with readily available materials—timber posts, pallets, rope, and painted MDF panels—the design prioritizes economy, simplicity, and reuse. Prefabrication enables rapid on-site construction and easy disassembly after the event. Its bright colors and recognizable shape strengthen the visual identity of FOKUS, turning a temporary installation into a civic landmark of creativity and participation. Superframe A modular timber housing system reimagining Russia’s urban future. Superframe responds to the national competition for mass housing prototypes. The proposal envisions a modular timber system capable of delivering quality, flexibility, and sustainability at an unprecedented scale. It redefines standardization as a tool for diversity and long-term resilience in Russian cities. Superframe challenges the idea of housing as a static product, proposing instead an adaptable structural framework built primarily from timber. By combining prefabrication and modular logic, it achieves cost efficiency while maintaining design freedom. Lightweight façades attach via mountable lock mechanisms, allowing users to personalize and update their homes over time. The project leverages Russia’s vast forest resources to stimulate local industries and reduce carbon emissions. Each building becomes part of a regenerative urban ecosystem, where sustainability and human choice coexist. The vision is not merely architectural but economic—empowering regions through local material use, production, and innovation toward a more flexible, timber-based urban future. Superblock A modular urban framework for adaptable, human-centered city growth. The Superframe Urbanistic Vision explores how a city can grow organically through structure rather than prescription. The framework establishes a clear spatial rhythm of streets, green corridors, and public spaces while allowing for flexible architectural interpretation. It provides a resilient foundation for contemporary neighborhoods where community, climate, and craft coexist. At the heart of the project is the idea of a living framework—a modular grid that defines relationships rather than forms. Superframe organizes urban growth around adaptable plots and open public domains, ensuring each block can accommodate future programs, energy systems, and mobility innovations. The system prioritizes permeability, daylight, and access to green space, creating a healthy and inclusive urban fabric. Superframe envisions development as a continuous dialogue between architecture and landscape. Infrastructure becomes soft and multifunctional, integrating water management, biodiversity, and social life into one spatial logic. By coupling prefabricated timber systems with regenerative planning, the project promotes cities that are not only efficient and sustainable—but deeply human in scale and experience. Tower With a Twist Spiral birdwatching tower shaped by motion in Latvia’s Pape Park. The Bird Watching Tower was designed for Pape Nature Park, located on Latvia’s western coast. The site is defined by constant movement—migrating birds, wild horses, and bison herds. The tower offers visitors a place to ascend, pause, and observe these natural cycles in harmony with the surrounding landscape. The tower translates the essence of movement into architecture. Its spiral circulation merges walking and pausing into a single experience, echoing the rhythm of migration and natural cycles. Its form evokes the protectiveness of a nest and the elegance of reeds swaying in coastal winds, while its materiality references vernacular Latvian methods. Constructed as a self-balancing steel structure, the tower relies on prefabricated, repetitive elements for cost efficiency and minimal environmental disturbance. Local materials reduce impact, while the lightweight assembly ensures that heavy machinery is not required on-site. As a result, the tower stands as both landmark and extension of the natural park, blending seamlessly into its surroundings.
